Background

Adolescence is an important period of development, growth, and opportunity. Using substances like alcohol and cannabis may negatively affect learning, behavior and overall growth during this period.

The Youth Collaborative at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is dedicated to fostering healthy adolescent development and positively impacting the community. It offers clinical services, research opportunities, and education programs focused on preventing and addressing adolescent substance use.

The MUSC Youth Collaborative is currently seeking adolescents and young adults ages 14-21 years old to participate in substance use research studies. Participants who are currently using substances such as alcohol and/or cannabis, and/or nicotine use are encouraged to apply. Treatment and observational (non-treatment) studies are available.
