Do You Need Help Losing Weight And Preventing Diabetes?

Background

The University of Sydney is seeking participants who are overweight, pre-diabetic and not yet on cholesterol medication to help determine whether fibre and ginseng supplements have a positive effect on cholesterol and blood sugar and help prevent type 2 diabetes.

Over a period of 12 months, participants will receive dietary supplements and weight loss advice from dietitians, psychologists and exercise physiologists. In addition, they will receive vouchers towards the purchase of foods outlined by trial dietitians. Participants are required to attend at least 9 study visits spread out over this period.

Your Rights

  • If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you may withdraw at any time.
  • Your records relating to this study and any other information received will be kept strictly confidential.
  • Upon completion the results of the study will be shared with you.

Who Can Participate?

  • Men and women who are 18+ years old and are prediabetic
  • Not on cholesterol or diabetes medication
  • Able to attend 9 study visits at the research site over a 12 month period
