Researcher Interview

Background

Many Veterans and military personnel are diagnosed with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). While there are
medications available for PTSD, they do not work for everyone.

This research study is testing the effectiveness of ketamine in reducing symptoms of PTSD. This medication has already been approved by the FDA for a different use and has shown promise in reducing symptoms of depression and PTSD.

This study seeks Veterans who currently suffer from PTSD and have not experienced symptom relief from using PTSD medications (such as antidepressants). Participants are required to attend study visits at the research site over 8 weeks and will be compensated up to $800 for participating in this study. You may also be eligible for transportation and lodging, determined on a case by case basis.

Benefits of Participation

• You may experience an improvement in your PTSD symptoms
• You will be compensated up to $800 for participating in this study.
• You will be helping to advance medical research aimed at improving treatments for PTSD.
• Your transportation expenses may be reimbursed, such as airfare, train and/or taxi service to and from the site as determined on a case by case basis.
• You may be eligible for lodging near the research site for the duration of the study, determined on a case to case basis if you are traveling from a far distance. However, please note that it would be expected of you to stay in CT for the duration of the study (approximately 4 weeks)

Your Rights

• If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you may withdraw at any time.
• Your records relating to this study and any other information received will be kept strictly confidential, except as required by the law.
• Qualified health professionals will monitor your health as it relates to the study.

Who Can Participate?

• Veterans aged between 18 – 75 years old
• Diagnosed with PTSD
• Have tried at least one antidepressant and not experienced significant symptom relief
