Background
Diets can be modified in many ways to improve blood sugar control. The current approach to type 2 diabetes focuses on the type and amount of foods consumed, but does not focus on timing of eating. Recent studies are looking into the effects of lengthening daily fasting on blood glucose and insulin control.
Time-restricted eating (TRE) is a form of daily fasting that limits the time of the day a person eats. Studies have found that TRE has positive effects on insulin sensitivity and blood sugar responses. The goal of this study is to explore the effects of following a TRE pattern or individualised dietary recommendations specific to type 2 diabetes, to improve blood sugar control among people with type 2 diabetes.
This study is recruiting adults aged 35 to 65 years old who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Participants must be willing to follow either a TRE pattern or recommended dietary modifications from a dietitian. They must be able to attend 11 study visits at the research site for over approximately 7 months.

- You will wear the new FreeStyle Libre Pro continuous glucose monitor to collect 24-h blood sugar readings at no cost and without the need to take finger prick blood samples.
- You will be provided a small remuneration for your participation.
- You will be helping to advance medical research.
