Background
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) has been found to frequently co-occur with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research has shown that there is a link between how the brain responds to negative emotions (which is common in PTSD) and addiction (which is common in AUD).
This study is recruiting to find the effectiveness of an investigational drug, Topriamate, on alcohol use disorder (AUD) co-occurring with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The study seeks adults aged 18 to 70 years old who are struggling with AUD co-occurring with PTSD. The study will run for approximately 4 months.
