Background
Smoking and excess weight are the first and second leading causes of preventable deaths, respectively. They also account for about 30% of all cancers. This could mean that by quitting smoking and maintaining a healthy weight, people may decrease the likelihood of developing cancers as well as improve their quality of life.
This research explores the effectiveness of a potential new method for individuals who are interested in quitting smoking as well as having a healthy weight for their body. This potential intervention emphasizes specific skills and strategies to help people quit smoking and lose weight.
The study seeks adults aged 18 to 64 years old who have been smoking regularly for at least 3 years are interested in quitting smoking. Study participants must attend 7 study site visits (2 hours each visit), after normal business hours, for approximately 8 weeks. Participants will receive up to $165 for their participation in this study.

Who Can Participate?
- Adults aged 18-64 years old who have been regularly smoking for at least 3 years.
- Must be motivated to quit smoking.
- Have an interest in achieving a more healthy body weight.
- Able to attend 7 study visits at the research site over approximately 8 weeks.
