This study centers on evaluating CORT108297, an experimental medication, with a focus on its safety and impact on PTSD symptoms when taken for only seven days. By participating in this study, you’ll contribute to the understanding of the effectiveness of the medication. - Qualified health professionals will monitor your health as it relates to the study.
Who Can Participate?
- Individuals aged 18 to 75 years who are diagnosed with PTSD OR have symptoms of PTSD
- Must be a military veteran
- Must be willing to use effective means of contraception throughout the duration of the study
- Must be not taking one of the prohibited medications for this trial, and must be willing to stay on a stable dose of certain other medications.
- Must not have a substance or alcohol use disorder in the past 3 months
- Must not have experienced a potentially traumatic event in the last 3 months
- Must not have any medical conditions that require the use of corticosteroids
- Must be available between 10-12 weeks for remote and in-person study assessments.
- Must come to the San Francisco VA Medical Center for 5 different occasions happening within a 2-week period
More Study Details
The study team will provide you with more study details but some things to note:
- Participants will undergo a series of study assessments including clinical interviews, self-report questionnaires, medical assessments including EKG and blood pressure, blood draw, and urine screen. Some participants will be asked to complete a one-night sleep apnea test at home.
- You will participate in study assessments before, during, and after taking the 7 days of medication.
- You will be asked to take the study medication (CORT108297) or a placebo (a pill that looks like the study medication but has no medication in it) once a day for seven days.
