About the Study
Struggling to walk after a stroke? Imagine if technology could predict and support your every step – that’s the vision driving this research study. Researchers from REEV are on a mission to bridge the gap between traditional rehabilitation methods and cutting-edge technology. By comparing REEV’s SENSE gait tracking sensors to established motion capture techniques, they aim to unlock new possibilities for stroke survivors.
This study aims not only to validate REEV’s sensor technology but also to integrate it seamlessly into clinical practice. It envisions a future where post-stroke rehabilitation becomes more efficient, effective, and tailored to individual needs. Each discovery brings us closer to a world where stroke survivors can walk confidently and regain their independence.

Why Participate?
- Participants will be able to test a new gait tracking sensor called REEV SENSE at no cost.
- Participants will be compensated up to $50 Amazon gift card for participating in this study. Compensation will only be provided to eligible participants who complete the study.
- Participants will contribute to validating the performance of REEV SENSE, potentially enabling healthcare professionals to analyze gait with precision and simplicity in the future.
- Participants will be contributing valuable information that may benefit those with post-gait disorder in the future.
- Participants will be helping to advance medical research.
Your Rights
- If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you can withdraw at any time.
- Any information that you provide will be kept strictly confidential, except as required by law.
- Qualified health professionals will monitor your health as it relates to the study.
Who Can Participate?
- Men and women aged 18 and above who have been experiencing any changes in their walking or movement patterns following a stroke (e.g., walking with a limp or any other noticeable alterations in their gait)
- Must be able to walk independently with or without the support of a cane or rollator
- Must have a history of stroke more than 6 months ago
- Must be able to physically attend the research center for a study visit that lasts 1.5 hours
More Study Details
The study team will explain the research in its entirety but some details are:
- Participants will be asked to complete a basic physical assessment upon check-in to confirm their eligibility.
- Participants will be fitted with 7 REEV SENSE sensors placed on specific locations: one on each shoe (right and left), one on each leg (right and left), one on each hip (right and left), and one on the torso. These sensors will be attached using biocompatible and certified elastic straps, monitored by a REEV staff member. Additionally, reflective markers will be placed on the body using hypoallergenic tape, with gender match provided upon request or by clinical research staff.
About the Research Center
MIT Center for Clinical and Translational Research
REEV’s mission is to help millions of people affected by neurological gait disorders after strokes, multiple sclerosis, or paraplegia to overcome their daily disability by becoming more autonomous and independent in their movements.
