Background

 

Lactoferrin is a natural substance from cow’s milk (lactose-free). It provides immune, digestive and anti-inflammatory support and helps maintain healthy iron levels. Researchers have developed a new form of lactoferrin which may  provide benefits to relieve Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms.

This study is looking to investigate the effectiveness of lactoferrin (cow milk derived supplements) on symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in otherwise healthy adults. Interested participants must be above 18 years old. They must be generally healthy but are experiencing stomach discomfort like abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhoea. Participants must attend 3 study visits at the research centre over approximately 2 months.

Who Can Participate?

 

• Adults aged above 18 years old who are generally healthy.
• Must be experiencing irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). IBS is defined as recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort at least 1 day/week in the last 3 months.
  • Note: symptoms include stomach discomfort such as bloating, abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhoea.
• Able to attend 3 study visits at the research site (in Newstead, Brisbane) over approximately 2 months.
