About the Study


Discover the impact of the Parental Rights in Education Act (known as the “Don’t Say Gay” law) on mental health in Florida. Are these laws harmful to LGBTQ+ individuals? As “parental rights” laws spread nationwide, this study aims to reveal their effects, especially on marginalized communities.

Why Participate?


  • Participants will be compensated $20 via electronic gift card or Zelle bank transfer for each survey completed. Compensation will only be provided to eligible participants who complete the study survey.
  • Participants will be contributing valuable information that may benefit the LGBTQ+ community in the future.
  • Participants will be helping to advance research.

Your Rights


  • If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you can withdraw at any time.
  • Any information that you provide will be kept strictly confidential, except as required by law.
  • Qualified health professionals will monitor your health as it relates to the study.

Who Can Participate?


  • Teachers, parents, or high school students affiliated with public or charter schools in Florida
  • Must be able and willing to complete a 20-minute survey
  • Must be able to participate virtually over approximately 6 months
