About the Study

Despite decades of research, the everyday choices behind why people drink—whether in social settings, at home, or alone—are still not well understood. This study aims to explore the dynamics of drinking as a common social practice.

Led by researchers at the University of Washington and the University of Michigan, this virtual study welcomes participants with diverse drinking habits. By joining, you’ll contribute to research that seeks to better understand drinking behaviors and their role in daily life.

Your insights can help shape how researchers think about one of society’s most common activities. Ready to help us learn more? Join today!

About the Research Centers:

Multiverse Project
This study represents a first of its kind collaboration between two leading behavioral science laboratories at the University of Washington and the University of Michigan. This project will bring decades of combined research experience in studying behavior in life as it is lived. That is, we want to know about the social context around which drinking occurs in people’s daily lives as it is lived. The goal is to flesh out the when, where, why, and how of drinking as a social process. We are bringing state of the art assessment and statistical modeling to fundamentally change our understanding of this very common social behavior.

Please note:
The study will be conducted remotely which means there will be no in-person visits, allowing you to participate in the comfort of your own home.
