Background

Uterine fibroids are very common, with many American women developing them at some point in their lives. Fibroids can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pain and discomfort.

This study is investigating a new medication that may decrease or even stop heavy menstrual bleeding and be an alternative to existing surgical treatments.

This study seeks healthy premenopausal women who suffer from heavy menstrual bleeding due to uterine fibroids (or suspected uterine fibroids). Participants are required to attend monthly study visits at the research site over a 10 month period and will be compensated up to $1150 for participating in this study.

Benefits of Participation

• You may experience some symptom relief, but there is no guarantee that you will.
• You will receive various health tests (such as a physical exam, pap smear, bone density test and pelvic ultrasound) at no cost to yourself.
• You will be compensated up to $1150 for participating in this study.
• You will be helping to advance medical research.

Your Rights

• If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you may withdraw at any time.
• Your records relating to this study and any other information received will be kept strictly confidential, except as required by the law.
• Qualified health professionals will monitor your health as it relates to the study.

Who Can Participate?

• Healthy premenopausal women aged 18 – 50 who suffer from heavy menstrual bleeding due to uterine fibroids (or suspected uterine fibroids)
• Not on birth control pills, IUD or any hormones
• Have not had surgical treatment for fibroids in the last 6 months
• Able to attend monthly study visits at the research site over approximately 10 months
