Why Participate?
- Participants will be compensated up to $250 for participating in this study. Compensation will only be provided to eligible participants who complete the study.

Who Can Participate?
- Healthy people aged either between 18-35 years old or 65 years or older.
- Participants must have a BMI of less than 30 kg/m²
- Participants must not have significant health conditions affecting their heart, lungs, blood, or response to oxygen (e.g., heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, or diabetes)
- Participants must not have had exposure to high altitude lasting more than two weeks in the past six months
- Must be able to attend 3 study visits at the research site over approximately 2 months
More Study Details
The study team will explain the research in its entirety but some details are:
- Participants must visit the lab three times and wear a mask simulating low-oxygen conditions
- Participants must lie still during measurements of heart rate, blood pressure, and nerve activity
- Participants must breathe a safe gas (nitric oxide) during one session
