About the Research
Managing schizophrenia can be challenging, but personalized support may help. This research study explores how a tailored program could improve symptom management and medication adherence compared to standard education.

Who Can Participate?
- Men and women aged 18 and above who are diagnosed with schizophrenia
- Must currently be prescribed antipsychotic medication for the treatment of schizophrenia, either through oral administration alone or in combination with a long-acting injectable, provided an oral antipsychotic is also being taken
- Must be currently receiving treatment or scheduled to receive treatment at a Community Mental Health Clinic (CMHC) or another clinical setting
- Must not have a history of being prescribed or currently be taking Clozapine as part of their schizophrenia treatment
- Must not be pregnant or breastfeeding
- Must not have alcohol use disorder
More Research Details
The research team will explain the research in its entirety but some details are:
- Participants will be asked to undergo screening and baseline assessments, including signing a consent form, completing psychiatric evaluations, answering demographic and health-related questions, and using an eCap medication bottle with a smartphone app. These research visits can take place via video-conferencing or in person.
- Participants will be asked to participate in six virtual intervention sessions.
- Participants will be asked to participate in follow-up assessments at 12 weeks, including questionnaires on psychiatric symptoms, medication use, daily functioning, and healthcare services, with the option to complete surveys online or in person.
