A message to our clients about COVID-19 and recruitment for your study:

In the last few days, we’ve received several messages concerning COVID-19 and how that might impact recruitment. We want to let you know that during this time, Trialfacts’ focus is on helping your research succeed while keeping participants safe.

We believe each of our clients is most suited to decide the best course of action based on the population you are targeting, while considering any outbreak in your area and how it might impact the circumstances of in-person visits. That said, like most companies, we’re hoping for the best but preparing for the worst, so we’ve compiled a list of 5 things we can do to help you navigate this uncertain time.

  1. Focus recruitment on participants who are less at risk—if you believe this might be relevant for your study, we are happy to focus on recruiting participants who do not present major risk factors for mortality with COVID-19, e.g. younger patients, patients with fewer co-morbidities. Please let us know if you would like us to make any amendments to any current or pending campaigns.
  2. Add wording to our advertising and study web pages that addresses potential concerns—we’re happy to add wording to our advertising and study web pages that, where applicable, indicates your research site is not treating any patients with known or suspected COVID-19, good hygiene practices are in place, taxi or rideshare travel reimbursement is available etc. to address potential participants’ concerns about the risk of contracting COVID-19 at your research site.
  3. Pause recruitment campaigns with one business day notice at any time—as part of our usual service and at no additional cost, if you would like to pause any current recruitment campaigns at any time, or scale any campaigns back or slow recruitment down, please let us know and we would be happy to do so within one business day.
  4. Set up new studies and get ethics committee approval—we are still happy to set up new studies and go through IRB/ethics approval and then hold off recruitment until you’re ready to start. This means recruitment can begin as soon as you’re ready once things return to normal, and avoid any further potential delays from ethics committees and recruitment campaign set up, when many studies look to begin recruitment at the same time.
  5. Keep you informed of drop-offs in campaign performance—we’re already proactively monitoring any campaigns for any drop-off in performance and we will keep you informed of any changes in your campaign during this unpredictable time.

We’re currently navigating an unprecedented event in our field that will inevitably affect some studies; however, currently the majority of studies continue to recruit with minimal impact. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
