Background

We already know that sleep is important for health and well-being. However, how do certain aspects of sleep, such as sleep timing, relate to our mood and behavior as teenagers?

Findings from this research can lead to the development of ways to improve teens’ sleep as a means to improving their health and well-being, both in the short- and long-term.

This research study seeks teens aged 16-19 who are currently enrolled in 11th or 12th grade. There are currently two studies that eligible participants could participate in, both focused on how changes in sleep (timing and schedule) affect teens’ mood and behavior. Participants may be compensated $455 or more for completion of all parts of the full research study (although this will depend in part on which research study the participant is eligible for and which group the participant is assigned to). Participants will be compensated for each stage of the research study.

Why Participate?

  • Participants will learn how their current sleep schedules are affecting mood or behavior.
  • Participants may be compensated $455 or more if all parts of the full research study are completed (although this will depend in part on which research study the person is eligible for and which group they are assigned to).
  • Participants will be compensated for each stage of the research study.
  • Those enrolled will be contributing to developing methods to improve teen health and well-being.
  • Parents and teens may be contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.
