Researchers Recruiting Participants With Type 1 Diabetes To Help Make Dosing Safer and Easier

Background

As many as 3 million Americans have Type 1 diabetes. Around 15,000 children and 15,000 adults are diagnosed each year.

This study aims to improve glucose control for Type 1 Diabetics by providing an APP with a smart bolus calculator, predictive alerts and treatment advice for meals, exercise carbs and bedtime snacks.

Researchers are recruiting men or women who are 15+ years old and use daily insulin injections. The study will involve 3 clinic visits, and a phone call every 2 weeks over the course of 12 weeks.

Benefits of Participation

  • You will receive help making dosing your insulin safer and easier.
  • You will be provided predictive advice on glucose control,  as well as treatment advice prior to exercise and sleep.
  • You will be helping advance medical research.
  • You will be provided the associated study supplies free of charge.
  • You will be compensated $50 per clinic visit ($150 total).
  • You will be helping bring decision support systems to the T1 Diabetes community.

Your Rights

  • If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you may withdraw at any time.
  • Your records relating to this study and any other information received will be kept strictly confidential, unless required by the law.
  • Qualified health professionals will monitor your health as it relates to the study.

Who Can Participate?

  • Men and women aged 15+ who have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes for at least 1 year
  • Use daily insulin injections and using carbohydrate counting to dose meal insulin
  • Willing to attend 3 study visits at the research site over a period of 12 weeks and have a call with a researcher every 2 weeks
  • Currently not participating in another clinical trial
