Background

Psychosis is a devastating mental state that affects the ability to tell real from unreal. Psychosis commonly occurs in people with schizophrenia but can also affect people with conditions as diverse as depression and Alzheimer’s disease.

Dopamine is an important neurotransmitter in the brain. This study is investigating how changes in dopamine levels affect brain function. Using exciting new brain imaging techniques, researchers at Monash University hope to better understand this relationship as it is critical for the development of effective treatments.

This study seeks mentally healthy men between the ages of 18 and 20. Participants are required to attend 2 visits, typically spaced out by 1-4 weeks and will be compensated for their participation.
