Background
Exenatide BD (known as Byetta®), taken twice daily, is a drug that is commonly used in the management of type 2 diabetes by reducing blood sugar levels. Exenatide BD works primarily by slowing the rate at which the stomach empties food.
A once weekly dose of exenatide (Exenatide QW or Bydureon®) is now available. This study aims to determine the effect of Exenatide QW on the rate of stomach emptying and blood sugar levels after a meal.
