Background

Around 35% of Australians experience a significant level of distress in their lives and the majority of sufferers do not seek help. Some of this reluctance is due to the fear that others will think ‘I am making it up’.

However the pattern of a person’s heart rate may provide an accurate measure of stress, and is something ‘you can’t make up’. This study aims to assess whether a heart rate monitoring device, worn over 24 hours, can provide objective indications of stress.

This study seeks physically healthy men and women aged 18+ who have an iPhone 4s or above with iOS 8 or later, or a smartphone with Android 4.4 or later. Participants will be reimbursed $250 for partaking in the study and be able to keep the heart rate monitoring device at the end of the study.
