The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that in 2019, almost 14 out of 100 U.S. adults aged 21 years or older smoked cigarettes. This means a predicted 34.1 million adults in the United States currently smoke cigarettes. Although, most smokers know that it’s in their best interest to quit. Actually quitting, however, is a whole other thing.

This study seeks to investigate the influence of various factors (i.e., economic, social, environmental, and psychological) on stress and smoking relapse. This is a smoking cessation study that aims to work with potential participants to set a date to quit smoking, provide them with brief quitting advice, and nicotine replacement therapy (i.e., nicotine patches and gum) to help in quitting smoking.

Researchers are inviting adult smokers aged 18 years old and up who are interested in quitting smoking. Participants must comply with the necessary study requirements. Compensation will be provided to eligible individuals for completing the study visits.
