New Mobile App And Device Could Improve Your Asthma

Background

Approximately 25 million Americans have asthma. Asthma is usually managed with rescue and controller inhalers.

This study is testing the effectiveness of BreatheSmart ®, a mobile app and sensor (which fits over an inhaler) that aims to help people better manage their asthma. Participants will also have the opportunity to give feedback about the mobile health platform.

This study looking adults anywhere in the USA who have asthma. Participants must have an iphone with iOS of 8.0 or higher and be willing to use the mobile app for 6 months.

Benefits of Participation

  • You may learn how to  manage your asthma better and experience an improvement in your symptoms
  • You will receive the BreatheSmart® app the HeroTracker® sensor free of charge
  • You will have the option  to keep using the BreatheSmart® app and HeroTracker® sensor after the study has ended
  • You will be compensated $150 for participating in this study.
  • You will be helping to advance medical research.

Your Rights

  • If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you may withdraw at any time.
  • Your records relating to this study and any other information received will be kept strictly confidential, except as required by the law.
  • Qualified health professionals will monitor your health as it relates to the study.

Who Can Participate?

  • Adults aged 18+ who have asthma and use an inhaler
  • Have an iphone with iOS of 8.0 or higher
  • Willing to complete surveys every 3 months
  • Willing to perform lung function tests with the device at home
  • Willing to use the mobile app and sensors for 6 months
